For Quality & Sustainability

At JBC Roasters we are committed to developing relationships with the very people that grow and care for our quality products. First, we support Fair Trade certification. Some roasters freely use the term Fair Trade, but are not certified and have no third party assurance that the money is getting back to the farmers to be used for social programs and crop improvement.
We certify our coffees with TransFair USA www.transfairusa.org the only third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the United States. TransFair USA provides numerous educational campaigns and works tirelessly to promote Fair Trade products.
JBC Roasters has traveled the globe to develop a number of direct relationships with farmers. The result is our “Relationship Coffees.” Most recently, we have befriended the eco-friendly Hartmann family and pay above and beyond fair trade prices for their unique coffee. They have used these social premiums for upgrading their facilities and increasing wages to laborers.

Most importantly, we strongly believe, along with others leading the industry, that supporting quality is the most sustainable way to support the farmer. Farmer’s who do not have the means or knowledge to create quality crops year-afteryear are not afforded a sustainable way of life.
We support programs, like Alliance for Coffee Excellence and Ecafe, which provide programs and training in order to help farmers improve the quality of their coffee. Award winning coffees chosen by both organizations in global competitions have brought premiums to farmers that vastly surpass Fair Trade prices.
